WHY
DELRADE?

The Delrade Bar is excellent for two reasons: Not only has it been ergonomically designed for effective and safe overhead squatting (1) but it is also very universal and multifunctional for pretty much any other lifts, movements or exercises one can think of (2):

Overhead squating specifically, is an essential training tool for everything from initial movement screening, improving biomechanics and flexibility up to mastering olympic lifting technique and performance.
 
The bar was created to overcome the main problem incurring when overhead squatting. When done with a traditional straight bar wrists are put in a highly stressful position, causing strain and pain. This is a result of holding the bar above the head with a wide grip. However, using a wide grip is the correct way to execute this exercise.
 
Therefore, to overcome this issue, Delrade have developed a new and innovative ergonomic bar which allows your wrists to sit in a comfortable and stress free position, eliminating wrist injury by spreading the weight and pressure evenly across the wrist, leaving you to focus on your training goals. Sport and Fitness is in my blood, in my DNA, and it has been shaping my whole life one way or another. From an early age I was led to do sports by my parents. My father believed that becoming a great sportsman was the best way to have a better life under communism in the 80's.  As a kid I went through karate, table tennis and swimming before I ended up in a prestigious 8-year Sport School as a track & field athlete.

After 2 years I switched from athletics to wrestling, later became a Slovak champion, wrestled in German Bundesliga and remained with this sport for almost 20 years. Since then I did a lot of strength training, strongman-style training, Crossfit and various competitions in these events. In 2006 I became a personal trainer in the City and I’ve been whipping people into shape until today.

Traveling has been a big part of my life and a passion. I’ve been traveling since my early wrestling days, representing Slovakia in many European and international competitions, lived in US and Australia, and since I moved to the UK in 2005 I traveled very often around whole Europe and beyond. In 2011 while overhead squatting, I thought ‘I need to come up with a bar which saves my wrists’! So I went after it and made it happen. More on this journey is here under 'my story’.

I always wanted to have my own business and in 2014 it finally came true - we opened our first Crossfit gym in the City and we created not only a successful business but also a great community of people who love to get fit. In 2017 we opened our second, bigger gym which saw wonderful growth in our tribe.  After 5 years in the gym business, I felt the need to share my experience so I wrote a book on how to open and run a gym: ‘Fit For Purpose’. 

I’m currently still coaching people on their well being, training and nutrition but I also helping people achieve their goals in life and business. It’s very satisfying. Over the last year, we’ve been running business masterminds to leverage the collective wisdom and help entrepreneurs to find solutions to their challenges. On a personal level, I’ve got a lovely wife and two amazing boys. So far it has been a hell of a ride and I’m looking forward to the future!

  • Why did you design and produce this bar? How does your bar differ from a traditional Olympic lifting bar and what are its benefits?

    • We designed and created this bar to avoid wrist pain which occurs when people do overhead squats using a traditional straight bar. The wrists are bent at an uncomfortable angle however our innovative new Delrade bar eliminates this issue thanks to its ergonomic bends. It is designed to distribute pressure evenly throughout the wrist while doing overhead squats or overhead lunges / walking lunges. The bends on a barbell are designed for better, more stabilised and firm grip, which aids (or helps) your training routine and ultimately your strength training goals.

  • What other exercises and lifts I can do with this bar?

    • It’s a very universal bar which can be used for any other lifts; like bench chest press, overhead press, back squat, front squat, deadlift, lunge, bent-over row, biceps curl, bench triceps press and many more strength building movements. So when you get this bar you are getting the whole tool kit! you can work on all the compound and isolated movements which build your strength and body shape.

  • How long and how heavy is your bar?

    222 cm (7.3 feet / 87.4  inches) long; and 15 kg (33 pounds) heavy.


  • How much weight can your bar withstand?

    Mx load up to 250kg (125 kg on each side). This is certainly sufficient for overhead squatting as well as other compound movements for 99% of people.

  • Can I use traditional standardised Olympic lifting plates when loading your bar?

    Yes, the sleeves on our bar are designed to accommodate these plates and the sleeves are the same size as the traditional Olympic bar.

  • Are your sleeves rotating like on a traditional Olympic bar?

    Our standard bar does not have rotating sleeves because it is not necessary for the movements this bar has been designed for but for an extra fee, we can make the bar with rotating sleeves. Please leave us a  note when placing an order.

  • Is your bar for a shorter as well as for a taller person? Does your bar have a different grip ranges?

    Yes, the bar has 2 options for gripping – one narrower and one wider, so it accommodates a shorter as well as a taller person.


  • How can I purchase your bar and what type of payment methods do you accept?

    You can purchase the bar Directly here - on our website. You pay here via our payment system stripe  and we process your order via Our manufacturer - Watson gym equipment. they will then deliver the bar. Please see the shipping conditions for more details.


  • Can I get a discount if I buy more barbells?

    We don’t do discounts but if you intend to buy more than 5 bars, email us and we can arrange something.

  • How long does shipping take and how much does it cost?

    All orders outside the EU are subject to import tax/duties & customs clearance.

    We have no control over these charges. Please contact your local tax office for further information.

    Orders shipped outside EU

    Once your order has been manufactured and dispatched from Watson HQ, you will automatically be assigned to an agent who will help you to clear your shipment when it arrives. The contact details of your agent can be found on the Bill of Lading. You will receive this once we have received confirmation that the ship has actually set sail. You can also use the information on the Bill of lading to track your shipment. If you have your own agent that you want to use to clear your shipment, that is fine, please send us the details at the time of ordering, or at least one week prior to shipping.


    USA Customers Only

    You will need a customs broker to help you clear your shipment. You cannot do this by yourself. If you do not have one that is fine, we can put you in touch with a customs broker that we use for all of our customers in the States that do not have one. A power of attorney will need to be set up so that they can act on your behalf and help you clear the shipment.

    Please note: We simply cannot ship anything to the States without this being in place. Failure to get this sorted ahead of time will effect shipping times.


    Import Tax & Duties

    As you are ordering from outside the UK there is not VAT on your order. Once the goods arrive at port there will be import taxes / duties and customs clearance costs that must be paid for by the importer of goods before the shipment can be released and delivered. These costs are not included in your shipping quote. We have no control over these costs and they vary country to country. Usually a small percentage of your total order value. For further information please contact your local tax office.

    Once import tax and duties have been paid, your shipment will then get released from customs and become available for delivery. The shipping agent assigned to your shipment will be in contact with you to arrange a suitable delivery time. If you do not hear from anyone after you have paid customs charges, please do not hesitate to call your agent listed on the bill of lading, or contact us and we can chase it up for you.


    Delivery Day

    Deliveries are usually made during normal working hours which can vary country to country. If you need a specific time window for delivery please let us know at the time of ordering, there will be an extra charge. All deliveries are made to kerbside ONLY. It is your responsibility to unload the equipment from the delivery vehicle therefore you will need to arrange a forklift to unload. It is also strongly advised to have a few extra hands to help you unload and move things into place. Depending on what you have ordered, we may be able to ship on single pallets therefore a forklift is not required. Single Pallets can be unloaded via tail gate which is on the back of the truck. It will still then be your responsibility to move the items into place.. If you are unsure whether your order/delivery requires a forklift, please enquire.


  • Can I return my bar?

    Yes, the bar can be returned to Watson gym equipment company if it is faulty or demaged. They will replace it.

  • How long is the warranty on my Delrade bar?

    There is a lifetime warranty on your bar.
